Grumman TBM-3E Avenger Torpedo Bomber on display at the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum in New York City.
The Avenger was introduced to the US Navy Carrier fleet in 1942 as the standard torpedo bomber and served until the end of World War II. Over 9,000 of these aircraft were produced. One of these aircraft was flown by President George H.W. Bush in World War II.
